「Accelerate/R.E.M.」を聴いた

border="0" />  2004年にReleaseされた前作「 "http://emam.cocolog-nifty.com/emam/2004/10/around_the_sunr.html">Around
The Sun」より約3年半振り、通算14作目となる "http://remhq.com/index.php">R.E.M.のStudio Album
「Accelerate」(2008/Album)について。

  前作の内省的な味わい深く静謐なAlbumもよかったけど、この「Accelerate」は、あの「Green」や
「Monster」の頃の様に、ともかく力強いAlbum。で、今回のProducerはあの "http://www.jacknifelee.com/">Jacknife Lee。U2やBloc
Partyといった音がR.E.M.に融合して、Guitarな音作りのAggresiveで円熟のRock Soundに仕上がっている。


  ともかく気に入った曲は、M-01「Living Well Is The Best Revenge」、M-02
「Man-Sized Wreath」、M-05「Houston」、M-06「Accelerate」、M-10「Horse To
Water」、そしてM-11「I'm Gonna DJ」。特に「Houston」から「Accelerate」への流れは秀逸。
これがTotal Timeが34分強で終わるのも、スパッとしててなんか気持ちいい。

  自分がR.E.M.にはまったは、1989年、旅行で行ったN.Y.C.のタワレコで、「Green」が流れまくって、
その音にひっかっかてから。もう20年近く聴き続けてるBandのひとつ。これからもずーっと。
