「The Rolling Stones:Rock And Roll Circus」を観た

　この2014年の春、8年ぶりの来日にいまだにその余韻が残っているThe Rolling Stones。この来日に合わせて、WOWOWにて「The Rolling Stones:Rock And Roll Circus」(1996/DVD)が放送された。そりゃー観るでしょ。
　これ、1968年、ちょうどBrian Jonesが脱退する直前の時期。出演者もThe Rolling Stonesに加え、John Lennon、Eric Clapton、The Whoなども出演し、めちゃめちゃ豪華なLine Up。まさにTitle通りのCircus的な雰囲気の中で、MickやKeithやJohnが出演者を紹介するコメントがあったりと、様々なArtistによるLiveが繰り広げられていた。
　で、Live映像のほうだけど、まずよかったのはThe Who。Pete Townshendのウィンドミル奏法は全開だし、まさに絶好調のPerformanceだった。そして、このShowのためにJohn Lennonが組んだBand "The Dirty Mac"。メンバーはJohn Lennon、Keith Richards、Eric Clapton、Mitch Mitchellと、まさにBeatlesでStonesでCreamでThe Jimi Hendrix ExperienceなSuper Band。演奏した「Yer Blues」はめちゃめちゃ渋いし、Yoko Onoがただただ絶叫していた「Whole Lotta Yoko」も凄かった。
　で最後はStonesの演奏。「Jumping Jack Flash」、「Parachute Woman」、「No Expectations」、「You Can't Always Get What You Want」そして、「Sympathy For The Devil」とどこかスカスカのRock'n Rollを演奏していた。ま、Brian Jonesの抜け切った表情を観てるとちょっとしょうがないかなって思えた。それでも「Sympathy For The Devil」のサイケ感と浮遊感は素晴らしかった。
　いやーまさに歴史的な映像作品。観れてよかったと思う。
