「Ghost Stories/Coldplay」を聴いた

　2011年にReleaseされた5th Album「Mylo Xyloto」から3年。この2014年にReleaseされたColdplayの6th Album「Ghost Stories」(2014/Album)。この夏のヘビロテの1枚になった。
　ここ数作の「Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends」(2008)、「Mylo Xyloto」(2011)のStadium Band的スケールの圧倒的な至福感な音作りとは異なり、このAlbum「Ghost Stories」は、ミニマルで音数が少なく、原点回帰的な作品になっている。音数が少ない分、それぞれの音が際立っていて、練り上げられた1枚になっている。まさに透明感にあふれるConcept Albumかと。
　こんなConcept Albumなので1曲1曲について書くのはどうかと思いつつも、書いてみる。
・M-01「Always In My Head」：ミニマルな始まりがこのAlbumの素晴らしさを伝えてくれる。
・M-02「Magic」：Elecrto色強めだけど、やたら静謐で美しい。
・M-03「Ink」：優しいDrive感がいい。
・M-04「True Love」：どこかPopさが漂う旋律。
・M-05「Midnight」：彼らの鉄板美メロとMelody。
・M-06「Another's Arms」：Chris Martinの丁寧なVocalがいい。
・M-07「Oceans」：荒涼としたアコギの音色がツボ。
・M-08「A Sky Full of Stars」：今まで聴いてきたこのAlbumの曲達がこの曲へつながる瞬間の高揚感がたまらない。
・M-09「O (Hidden Track)」：やたら綺麗に終わっていく。
　ちょっと暑さがおさまった夏の夕方に聴きたくなる美しい作品でした。これからもちょいちょい聴きそうな1枚になりそうです。
